Brand India takes action after fake drugs made in China found in Africa

Following the seizure in Africa of fake drugs from China marked as “Made in India,” brand India promotion has become a major focus for the Indian government.

Anti-malarial tablets destined for Nigeria were recently intercepted by the Nigerian government. If the counterfeit drugs were not discovered, close to 650,000 could have been affected, said Consumerist. Com.

Official delegations from the Commerce Ministry plan to meet with African health ministers to assure them of the efficacy and safety of Indian generic and patented drugs. The Indian pharmaceutical industry in Africa is worth $11 billion.
