Around 714 million voters in India will go to the polls to elect the 15th Lok Sabha, selecting their representatives for the 545 seats in the house. Polling will take place in five phases starting April 16 and the results will be declared on May 16.
The Lok Sabha election, the biggest such exercise in the world, will cost a whopping Rs.10,000 crore (Rs.100 billion), said a study by Centre for Media Studies.
For Indian small business owners the declaration of the dates means that no further incentives or stimulus packages will be announced in the interim.
