Indian leather industry projects 20 percent fall in export orders

The Indian leather industry is expected to experience a 20 percent fall in export orders due to the global slowdown and European non-trade barriers. In Tamil Nadu alone an estimated over 250,000 workers may lose their jobs, according to Zackria Sait, Chairman of the India Finished Leather Manufacturers and Exporters Association speaking at the 43rd Leather Research Industry Get-Together (LERIG-2009)
